Los Angeles Tennis Digest: Sunday's Highlights
USC Seniors Shine on Senior Day
USC Men's Tennis celebrated a perfect Senior Day, sweeping No. 21 Michigan 4-0 at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium. The Trojans’ seniors led the charge, with Karl Lee and Peter Makk securing decisive singles victories in their final home matches. Makk sealed the overall win with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Michigan’s Will Cooksey on court one.
“Our seniors showcased everything we stand for as a team,” said USC head coach Brett Masi. “They’ve built a legacy of excellence that will inspire future Trojans.”
Looking ahead, USC (13-8, 7-4 Big Ten) will travel to Ohio for their final conference matches before the postseason begins.
UCLA Secures Key Victory Over Michigan State
The UCLA Men’s Tennis team extended their winning streak to three matches with a 4-1 victory over Michigan State. Standout performances included Rudy Quan dominating the No. 9-ranked Ozan Baris (6-1, 6-2) and Alexander Hoogmartens’ comeback victory on court four. With this win, UCLA solidifies their position in the Big Ten standings at 11-8 overall and 9-2 in conference play.
“Playing in LA has been special,” said Quan after his career-best singles victory. “The energy from the crowd fuels us to compete at our best.”
The Bruins will next face UC San Diego before hitting the road to close the regular season.
